“How is he?” Cole asked as soon as I returned to the classroom.

“He’ll be fine.” There was no doubt in my mind that we would make it through this. “He needs some time to work through it. He did promise me that he wouldn’t do anything stupid, so there aren’t any worries there.”

“Did anything else happen?” Rage scanned my face and tilted his head.

We’ll talk later. Now wasn’t the time for that conversation. “No, I hadn’t realized how hard this would all hit him.”

“That’s how he works.” Rage leaned his head to the side, popping his neck. “He doesn’t let many people in, and when he does, he’s damn loyal. I hadn’t realized he’d taken that much to Professor Shaw.”

“Everyone should know not to trust wi …” Jess stopped her sentence when Luna’s gaze landed on her.

Luna placed a hand on her and cocked her head. “Not to trust who?”

“Now isn’t the time to fight.” I had a feeling Luna might be able to help me with the mystery man. “Since we’re all being honest here and apparently threw whatever you were going to teach out the window, I need to ask you something.”

“Go on.” She leaned her head back and dropped her hand to her side.

“Is there a way someone can be somewhere but be hidden to everyone except one person?” I was banking on this being witchcraft.

“Yeah, but it’s hard to do. Only a powerful witch or wizard can do it.” She grabbed her spell book and began flipping through the pages.

“So who I saw was someone well versed in magic?” At least that narrowed it down to one race.

“Oh no. It could be anyone.” She held up a hand-drawn picture of some sort of pentagon. “A lot of spells can be tied to an object so that the person wearing it doesn’t necessarily have to know how to use magic. They could have had someone spell it and wear it whenever they want to be invisible.”

Shit, that sucked and didn’t give us any more of a lead on the guy. So it could have been anyone.
